I like ikea. I think it's a great place to get stuff that will last you 3-5 years. Not a place to buy nice things that you can have for the remainder of your life, that will move from house to house as you move. Saying this, Juan and I were out of the valley for the weekend and thought we'd drop by ikea. Juan had never been, so I knew he was in for a treat. In order for it to be a positive experience however, I knew we would need to eat food there to make it through. First stop- hot dogs. For fifty cents a dog, how can you say no? So we got those and started on our way. We ended up needing Swedish meatballs along the way. Very tasty.
The thing about ikea is how I have to be careful when I go there. Basically I want to buy 80% of the stuff in there with little regard to the crappiness or the fact that I have no where to put it or use it. Let alone pronounce it's fancy little Swedish name. I actually did really well and by the time we got to the checkout, the only thing we were buying was a light bulb. A month ago I was there and found a cool little lime green lamp for $3.99, but couldn't find a light bulb to fit it.It was my first time at ikea so i didn't think about needing special light bulb. I figured since we were there last weekend I could grab one and finally get my spunky light working. When Juan scanned the light bulb at the self check out, it came in at $7.99. Yeah freakin' right. I'm not spending double the price of the lamp on the bulb. Yes it might last two years because it's a fancy bulb, but when I live 100 miles away from the store that carries the magical unstandardized bulb, I'm looking at convenience. And it's the principle of the thing. And I'm cheap.

We should go to Ikea together. I like the store, but feel the same way. I always want to buy a lot, but I don't plan on it lasting for a lifetime!
We love ikea. Those meatballs are to die for and Andrew always has to buy a ton of the candy (missionary memories). I was wondering if you had fallen off the face of the earth. We would love to hang out! Call us when you are free. PS how is the job hunt, or what is the new news?
You've convinced me. I need to pay a visit to Ikea. It's funny how these days I don't shop anywhere without a coupon.
funny stuff, and so true. I love that store and feel the same way about being impulsive and illogical about buying all their stuff. oh and I totally wouldn't have bought that light bulb either, that is ridiculous!
I wouldn't call it cheap, just smart! That's dumb to spend twice as much on the lightbulb as the lamp, so good thinking on your part.
IMPORTANT!!! He Alicia, this is really random, but you have an old Davis High School directory? Like from when you were a senior? Let me know ASAP! Thanks!
My brother, Jordan is getting married and my mom is looking for one. Do you think we could borrow it if you have one?

I am so glad you have a blog!!!! I have been hoping that someday some of my long lost friends would have blogs and I would be able to find them! Little did I know that so many of you do! You should check mine out too!
Oh, and I love Ikea too! My in-laws live down by there so we go way too much! It may not be the highest quality stuff, but I sure do love it!
I will be down in Farmington this weekend as well. So, if you find one let me know. I could even just come and get it. My mom says thanks for checking too. She is totally stressing!
ALICIA STARKEY!! (Manning now, I see!) How are you? I'm so glad we've stumbled upon one another in this crazy blog world! How are you? Where are you? What are you up to? FYI: I love Ikea too=I am also cheap :)
I think we bought the very same little lamp. Jordan got a blank shade with the intention of designing it. Little did we know the downfall of the expensive bulbs. It might be worth it for an art piece though. who even knows.
